a) A vesico-vaginal fistula (VVF), also called bladder fistula, is an abnormal connection between the bladder and the vagina.
Risk factors for vesico-vaginal fistulas include pelvic inflammatory disease and diabetes.
Causes:
Fistulas also may be caused by
- Trauma during childbirth
- Radiation therapy or vaginal malignancies.
Consistent leakage of urine is the main symptom of VVF.
Include:
- Physical Examination
- The use of dye in the vagina (and maybe the bladder or rectum) to find all signs of leakage.
- Urinalysis to check for infection.
- Blood test (complete blood count) to check for signs of infection in your body.
- An X-ray
- Endoscope
- MRI
